Two programs
Both begin with your book, and both are assessed against the same IIBA Standard of Excellence. The difference is what happens next.
Meet the standard
Your book is read cover to cover and held to the published standard, on its own terms. Meet it and your book receives the International Impact Book Award in its category, and you become a Distinguished Author.
Win the category
The only recognition we give that belongs to one author alone. Books are held to the same standard, then the strongest in each category become finalists and are set against one another. One Author of the Year per category, read out in Hollywood each October.
The index
Every category has its own page explaining what it recognizes and what the standard looks like inside it. Authors may enter up to five.

No category matches that. Try a broader word, or email us and we will point you to the right one.
The standard
Every book is read in full and measured against ten published pillars. Recognition is earned by meeting the standard, not by outperforming other entrants.
Step one
The Literary Metric Assessment System is our proprietary evaluation system. It reads your complete manuscript, not a synopsis or a description, and assesses it against all ten pillars in each category you enter.
Step two
An instrument produces consistency. It does not produce judgment. Every book is then read in context by our lead reviewer against the expectations of its category, because excellence in a memoir does not look like excellence in a business book.
Step three
The book is measured against the standard and nothing else. Books that meet it receive the award and their authors become Distinguished Authors. Books that do not are never listed publicly.
The ten pillars fall into four groups: how the book is written, what it contains, what it does for the reader, and how it is finished.
